well baka po masyadong involved si franz sa choir kaya imbes mag aral eh choir ang naiisip. I experienced that before yung lagi mong inaanticipate ang choir practices and services. :-)

Hula ko lang...Franz is going to ask something media-related (or related fo computer-assisted media production) so that he could come up with something that he can use for their choir practice. Makes sense, don't you think? ;)

Franz, just because you are an IT student does not mean that you have to be a programmer for life. There are actually lots of opportunities ahead of you. Here are only some of them:

-call center agent (but i would discourage you to, for your first job. I strongly discourage you to, baka ma-disillusion ka kaagad sa work since it\'s a very demanding job. I should know ;) )
-technical support
-technical writer
-quality assurance / quality specialist
-business analyst
-database programmer (iba \'to sa regular programmer, believe me)
-web designer
-web programmer (iba pa rin \'to)
-content manager / producer
-content writer
-webmaster/web administrator

and a whole lot more! :)

I\'d also suggest that you don\'t limit yourself to what you learn in the classroom. In real life, especially in the field of IT, change occurs at a much faster rate than mere mortals can handle. So your biggest edge would not be in the numer of computer languages that you know, or in the number of programs that you are familiar with, but with how fast you can cope up with change. It\'s not that I\'m telling you to hone up your programming skills (though that could help), but it\'s good to keep yourself abreast with the news---about what\'s new, what\'s out, and what\'s coming up. That way, hindi ka basta mapag-iiwanan.

I would also suggest na, kung wala pa kayo sa bahay, mag-start na kayong magpundar ng sarili ninyong PC kaysa sa mag-rent kaso sa labas. In fact, I would think of it as a requirement for all CS/IT majors. Kumbaga sa manunugtog, it\'s your primary instrument, and the only tool you\'ll ever use not just in your studies but even beyond. If you already have one, then good for you :)

Database programming, pwedeng Visual Foxpro, or Visual Basic, pwede ring webdesign and online programming using java or Php with sql or mysql database, marami dyan... pwedeng oracle, nasa sayo na kung anong pipiliin mo, as long as ma ma master mo sya....

whew! eto na nga ba sinasabi ko. mukhang kelangan ko muna mag-research about IT jargons, hehe...

Bonnie

Hehehehe, ikaw talga pareng jose, di naman ganon, hehehe, sa field of interest mo lang yan kung baga, ako nga di naman ako IT graduate dahil accounting graduate ako, pero talagang hilig kong matutong mag aral ng programming, kaya yan, nag pursige ako.... ganon lang yon...

Kung mahilig ka sa subject na Geometry during your highschool years kung saan e puro proving theorems ang ginagawa, tyak ko pag gusto mong mag programming at pag aralan mo e in a short span of time, matututo ka... Its more of step by step procedure using logic and analogy.

Sanayan lang kung baga.... para ding nag aaral ng gitara at piano, constant practice, practice, practice, makes it perfect.

Hahahahah! Natawa ako dito sa thread na ito! Am not tech savvy,so much :terrified: All I could share is that they're many people part of this board that come from my alma matter (department of information system and computer science);D Most of them were happy reading the board if they're not busy. :)

When I was still a college student, (BS MIS-MSCS) I accepted programming tutorials and projects from other schools so that I could have additional income. So I could have my own car, because those were the days I usually had huge fight w/my brother. These days , while I still accept/ teach programming from students, the things I have to do for them are a little different. Unlike before when I was still a college student accepting projects from other students-clients (un mga tamad mag-aral), I now have to teach my students how a specific programs works and I have to explain to them what the most vital part of the programs do.

Programming is not a one day thing; you will need to hone your skills over time to learn the ins and outs of it. You also have to settle
w/learning(and mastering)one or two programming languages at a time because you can't be a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. But it is good to have background knowledge on all possible programming languages that you can be learned. It is also important to continue reading about developments on the programming language(s) you choose to specialize in.

franz, since your still in school, I suggest that if you have exams/projects, you should research the internet as to how you can possibly get what you want, and if you really can't find any information about it, then I suggest THAT YOU ASK Somebody that can help you not only those strangers on the net, but also to those people you see in person.

May God Bless you:)

Tama yong sinabi ni Michaela "Programming is not a one day thing; you will need to hone your skills over time to learn the ins and outs of it."

My first program was payroll system, to finished it, i have to do it in six months time, but as the years goes by, paikli ng paikli ng panahon ang ginugugol kong oras dito, pinakamabilis na system na nagawa ko lately is 1 week, Accounting System, Im not an IT gradutate pero this is my field of interest, Im an Accounting gradute, pero dahil pamilyar ako sa bussiness cycle, its an advantage in my part.

Maraming forum sa net na pwede mong i tap para sa mga tanong mo from time to time, at karamihan sa katanungan mo e me mga sagot na sa internet... feel free to surf, depende sa interes mo, pm mo ko kung me mga specific need ka, baka matulungan kita, Im happy to help you, yan kung makakaya ko....Ciao.

Franz, I recommend http://www.w3schools.com as a good source for an IT student like you.

Anyway, I mastered Visual Basic 6 and it is my primary programming language (I actually used it to make a High School Enrolment System). However, I am trying to learn Java, since it is in demand right now. Another thing, many programmers quit using COBOL but now those companies who hired them are needing COBOL programmers, so I am trying to adjust pa. It is an ouch because COBOL codes are very long.
