hello po sa lahat I have just attended a seminar last October 16-17, 2004 the title of the seminar is Subtle attacks Against Family Explained (S.A.F.E.) the seminar was organized a few years ago, in respond to the pastoral letter of the former bishop Jaime Cardinal Sin, entitled Subtle Attacks Against Family and Life, and hoping to be adapted by the youth in our diocese, thats why we were forced (hehehe) to attend this seminar (pero sulit naman for us :D)
the seminar is all about the family as the basic unit of the society. how it was being attacked by different institutions in order to redefine it. As the Pope said "The Family in the modern world, as much as and perhaps more than any other institution, has been beset by the many profound and rapid changes that have affected society and culture. Many families are living this situation in fidelity to those values that constitute the foundation of the institution of the family. Others have become uncertain and bewildered over their role ar even doubtful and almost unaware of the ultimate meaning of truth of conjugal and family life" (Familaris Consortio 1)
Certain issues affecting families have been discussed in this seminar. like demography,("Is the country really in a POPULATION CRISIS?" "Does having less kids solves the problem of poverty?")The Gospel of Life("Isn't it that life begins during fertilization not during implantation? So how come people tell it is just a glob of tissue? " "Is RU-486 a contraceptive or an abortifacient?" etc) and other topics like Sex Education, Pornography, Violence and Advertising in Media, New Age, and The God's Plan for Marriage and Family
the speakers were great and reliable since they all belong to different institutions: Doctors Educators, Demographers, Writers, and Priests.
