Kaninong "Cantate Domino" ba yung tinutukoy mo? Kay Hans Leo Hassler? Alam ko andaming compositions na "Cantate Domino" ang title, iba iba ang composers nito
Ang common verbs ng dalawang kanta nito ay "cantare" which means "to sing". "Cantate" means "you sing" (it's not "cantante", there's no such conjugation as "-ante" in Latin), while "canticorum" means "we sing". CANTICORUM JUBILO Let's sing joyfully Thank God for that Latin dictionary na iniregalo sa akin!!! Wala akong makitang ibang translation nito sa Internet, so here's my abysmal attempt at Latin translation (laitin daw ba ang sarili ):Canticorum jubilo; regi magno psallite = Let's sing joyfully; play (musical instruments) for the great king. Iam resultent musica. Unda telus sidera. = Di ko masyadong ma-gets ang translation nito, but it goes something like this: This is the result of music as a weapon sinking and surging into the earth. Personantes organis, jubilate, plaudite. = Sound/play the instruments, rejoice and clap your hands (applaud). CANTATE DOMINO Sing to the Lord. ...is based on Psalm 96. Andaming composers nito, and the original Psalm is a bit long. You may want to visit the CPDL (Choral Public Domain Library) page about Psalm 96, which includes both the original Latin and the English translation on this page: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Psalm_96 With regard sa suitability sa communion...I would advise that you better sing either song for either the Entrance song or Recessional song. Masyado kasing joyful ang parehong kanta for the communion, you'll need something more solemn for that ![]() We have little to no culture of healthy polemics in the country, as any attempt to consider fault is taken as a personal attack. ![]() "Canticorum jubilo" is one of the numbers in the oratorio titled "Joshua". Sa pagkakaalam ko, ang "Canticorum jubilo" ang nag-iisang number sa oratorio na ito na syang kilalang-kilala, di tulad ng "The Messiah" na maraming kanta ang pamilyar sa buong mundo (kabilang na ang "For unto us a child is born" at, syempre, ang walang-kamatayang "Hallelujah Chorus" )We have little to no culture of healthy polemics in the country, as any attempt to consider fault is taken as a personal attack. I think Cantate Domino is a psalm-type song. For easter, if you want Latin, may I suggest Haec Dies (This is the day the Lord has made).

![]() Yung "Canticorum jubilo" is actually part of an oratorio by Handel ("Joshua"). So by itself, hindi sya liturgical kung ganon ka ka-istrikto. But from what I know, derived naman ang verses nito sa Bible like most oratorios (for example, yung Hallelujah Chorus din ni Handel, it's from the Book of Revelations). So what happens in practice is that this song (and, also, the Hallelujah Chorus) is appropriated for some liturgical functions. In the case of masses, it's either used as an opening song or recessional song. Cantate Domino is derived from the book of Psalms. Maraming composers ang nag-arrange nito from the Renaissance and even up to our current time. Sa pagkakaalam ko, historically, this Psalm was composed as antiphons, depende nga lang sa kung anong occasion ang intended ng composer. (I think that, in the old versions of missals, some Psalms have specific uses in specific occasions, such as the "De profundis" which is used in funerals). But, of course, some composers also adapted this Psalm as a separate musical number that is not really intended for liturgical use (as well as other liturgocal texts---e.g. Samuel Barber's adaptation of "Agnus Dei"---which can run as long as six to seven minutes!!!) Kung matagal-tagal yung haba ng particular adaptation na gagamitin, baka hindi appropriate for use as a proper responsorial psalm owing to the length. So I think...it's your call, kung saan nyo talaga gusto gamitin yung mga kantang ito. It's recommended that you research more about the songs first para safe ![]() We have little to no culture of healthy polemics in the country, as any attempt to consider fault is taken as a personal attack. We always sing Canticorum Jubilo as an entrance hymn whenever the celebrant allows music of this type to be sung. Even in concerts, I've heard a lot of Filipino Choirs including the Madz sung this as they approach the stage.

Play for our reigning King! Let the music now strikes sharp as a spear coming from on high. Let each one play his own instrument and bursts aloud in praises "Stabat Mater dolorosa juxta Crucem lacrimosa dum pendebat Filius"
