Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous
Teach me to serve You as I should
To give and not to count the cost
To fight and not to heed the wounds
To toil and not to seek for rest
To labor and ask not for reward
Save that of knowing that I do Your most holy will
Jandi's version of St. Ignatius of Loyola's Prayer for Generosity, composed at a time in his high school when the call to give of one's self was totally in service to God was very strong. At the time he thought he was being called to serve as an ordained minister in the Jesuit order. Little did he know that he was being called to respond to a greater call to generosity many years later, with Deaf and hard-of-hearing people of God.
