Let Love Be Born Today

Lyrics

REFRAIN
We sing, we dance, we lift our praise
For Christ the Lord is born today,
The child who with us comes to dwell
To be for us Immanuel!

For He, the tiny babe
In yonder David’s city born,
Will be our hope and joy
In a world so long forlorn! (REFRAIN)

For He, the Prince of Peace,
Though born in humble majesty,
Will be a glorious King
Who will set the whole world free! (REFRAIN)

So make a joyful noise:
Sing glory to our God on high!
Today let love be born
That His name be glorified! (REFRAIN)

OUTRO
We sing, we dance, we lift our praise
For Christ the Lord is born today!

Inspired by Isaiah 9:5-6 and Luke 2:1-14.

The song "Let Love Be Born Today" aims to capture the joy and the spirit of that moment, when the angels first announced the birth of Christ the Lord to the shepherds guarding their flock. That moment was a powerful announcement that God's promises have now been fulfilled through Jesus Christ; his promise to be with us, our Emmanuel; his promise to bring hope and joy, in a world longing for love and meaning; his promise to set us free from sin and death; and his promise to become, for us, the embodiment and sacrament of his love. The title "Let Love Be Born Today" echoes the creative command of God at the beginning of time, when He said, "Let there be light!" At the same time, it reminds us that the true spirit of the Christmas season is allowing love - Christ himself - to be born in our lives in the way we love one another.
