The second Filipino saint, Pedro Calungsod, was a young Visayan catechist invited to accompany the Jesuit priest Diego Luis de San Vitores on mission to Guam. While ministering to the locals, San Vitores and Calungsod earned the ire of the village chief, who eventually attacked and killed them. Despite his youth, Saint Pedro Calungsod, travelled far to serve humbly, not knowing that he would be called to offer his life in defense of another. His example teaches us that love and faith know no age or culture. Saint Pedro Calungsod, teach us to serve Christ as humbly and as readily as you did.
